Terms of Use

These terms set the conditions for using Merced Residents Directory. Visiting or using the reference means the terms are accepted. Anyone who does not accept them should stop using the pages and linked tools.

1. The Nature of This Reference

Merced Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections connected with Merced, California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with Merced County, the City of Merced, a California court, or any records custodian.

2. Acceptable and Prohibited Use

Use the pages and linked sources only in a lawful way. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • stalking, harassing, threatening, intimidating, or harming a person
  • trying to locate someone protected by a protective or restraining order
  • identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or unlawful surveillance
  • using information for an FCRA-regulated credit, employment, housing, insurance, or tenant-screening decision
  • scraping or republishing the material at scale without permission
  • interfering with the operation, security, or availability of the service

3. No Consumer Reporting Service

The reference is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. Content here, and results supplied by a linked search provider, are not consumer reports. They may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, tenant screening, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. External Portals and Providers

County, city, state, court, library, archive, and third-party search links lead to services with independent terms, prices, privacy practices, and availability. Merced Residents Directory does not control their content or promise that a linked portal will remain online.

5. No Promise of Accuracy

The pages are provided as available and without warranties. Record indexes can be incomplete, stale, or corrected after publication. A fee, coverage date, address, link, or office procedure may change. The custodian must be contacted before an important decision relies on a record.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not responsible for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this reference or an external resource, including a decision made from a record found through it.

7. Your Responsibility

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees, that results from your misuse of the pages, a linked tool, or another violation of these terms.

8. Copyright and Site Materials

The original words, design, logo, and arrangement are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief attributed excerpt is welcome. Copying full pages or systematically harvesting the site is not permitted without written consent.

9. Revisions

Terms may be changed by posting a new version. Continued use after the revised version appears means the updated terms are accepted.

10. Suspension of Access

Access may be blocked or limited when a person violates these terms, abuses a linked search, threatens others, or creates a security risk. Such action may occur without advance notice.

11. California Law

California law governs these terms without applying conflict-of-law rules. Public-record explanations refer to the California Public Records Act, Government Code Division 10, sections 7920.000 and following. Privacy references include the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act in Civil Code sections 1798.100 and following.

12. Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to operate.

13. Questions About the Terms

Questions about these conditions may be sent through the Contact page. The contact route cannot certify or correct a Merced County record.
